Transfers to and from Portland Jetport Airport

Once you have arrived at Portland International Jetport, please take your time to collect your luggage from the Baggage Claim area before proceeding to the transfer option of your choice.

Transfers at Portland Jetport

Pick Up and Drop Off – Travelers can be collected or dropped off on curbside outside the terminal, but the vehicle is not allowed to park there. The Cell Phone Lot is a free option if the greeter wants to wait in the vehicle as it is located only minutes away, and the short term parking offers the first 30 minutes free of charge.

Rental Cars – The jetport’s consolidated car rental area is located inside the parking garage located opposite the passenger terminal. Together they have a fleet of more than 200 vehicles for rent. It is recommended to book the rental vehicle of choice from the selected company of choice before the arrival at the airport to ensure you get what you prefer. Some companies may serve walk-up customers.

Public Transport Buses – Greater Portland Transit District, known as METRO, provides bus Route #5 for transfer to and from the airport. The bus route operates between downtown Portland and the Maine Mall area of South Portland. It also stops at the Transportation Center where the Amtrak station, and more transportation options, can be found. Taxis – Taxi cabs are located outside the terminal. They operate on a flat rate guide on a first come, first served basis. More details about taxis at Portland Jetport.

Hotel Shuttles – Many of the hotels in Portland offer an airport shuttle service to their guests so they can transfer conveniently between the jetport and the accommodation. These are requested by the traveler directly through the hotel in advance. They are sometimes free of charge and sometimes they are subject to an additional charge. Ride Shares – If a ride share transfer is your choice, please check with the company of your choice for service at Portland Jetport. Rides are requested through the chosen company’s smartphone application upon arrival at the jetport.

Limousine, Private Cars, Vans and Coaches – There are other means of transfer available for the journey from or to the airport. These are provided by private companies and their services usually have to be organized in advance of the trip.

Trains – The Amtrak Downeaster line stops at the train station located at Portland Transportation Center daily. The Transportation Center is on the Route #5 bus line to downtown Portland.
